Longa - The governor of the province of Cubango, José Martins, on Tuesday highlighted the courage and bravery of the heroes of February 4, 1961 as motivation for African countries in the fight for the liberation of some countries in the Southern African region.
He was speaking at the event that marked the celebrations of the 64 anniversary of the beginning of the armed struggle for national liberation on February 4.
For him, Angola, as a democratic State based on the rule of law, cannot be dissociated from the deeds of heroes of the 4th of February, fearless women and men, born to serve, whose contribution made them unforgettable, “taking into account that they not only benefit the country but also a large part of the African continent”.
José Martins highlighted that, since February 4, 1961, when the process of national armed struggle began and which was perfected during national independence, Angola has been experiencing a development scenario that can be seen in several sectors and in all provinces, with the creation of social and economic programs and projects aimed at maximizing expected growth levels, through the goals set out in the development plans.
“This year we celebrate the 4th of February at a time when the country is experiencing a process of positive reforms, due to the new Police and Administrative Division, with a view to reducing asymmetries, thus allowing public services to be close to citizens and reach the best quality”, he explained.
He recalled that the province of Cubango completed the institutionalization process and currently it has a total of 11 municipal administrations, which will focus on bringing public services closer to citizens.
José Martins explained that with the completion of the process, several challenges are yet to be overcome which are linked to the need for infrastructure that facilitates the mobility of people and various goods, electric power, water and the need to hire new staff to fill vacancies available in the organic structures of the new municipalities.
The provincial governor reaffirmed the implementation of actions focused on improving road traffic and mobility of people and goods, as well as the continuation of work with the central government to rehabilitate the main national roads, to connect municipalities, and undertake efforts to improve the provision of social services that offer dignity to populations, linked to the health, education, housing, leisure, sports and other basic services sectors.
