Luanda - The Angolan ambassador to Cuba, Maria Cândida Teixeira, on Monday, in Havana, appealed for the unity and cohesion of all Angolans taking into account the challenges that the country faces, especially in the diversification of the economy, as well as in the rehabilitation and construction of infrastructures.
According to a press release, the diplomat was speaking at the central ceremony of the celebrations of the 49th anniversary of National Independence that was held at the Angola House of Culture in the city of Havana before an audience of students, employees of the diplomatic mission and other members of the Angolan community.
"National unity is without a doubt, the basis of any nation that aspires to progress. Without unity, there is no cohesion, there is no strength. Angola, with its rich cultural, linguistic and ethnic diversity, knows well the importance of maintaining united", she emphasized.
The event, which this year is celebrated under the motto "11 November: National Unity, Production and Sustainable Development", was also attended by the deputy Roberto Leal Monteiro "Ngongo", president of the Defense, Security, Internal Order and Former Veterans of the Fatherland, the academic António Quino, as well as by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Vieira Lopes, who led the Angolan delegation at the 40th Havana International Fair, held from the 4th to the 9th of this month.
The guests, both speakers, addressed topics such as the challenges of the present and the future, the struggle for emancipation in Angola, the historical value of the victories achieved in the war and the construction of the new society.
At the time, Vieira Lopes highlighted the Government's continued commitment to supporting and strengthening connections with the Angolan communities abroad.VIC/MRA/DOJ
