Luanda - The Luanda District Court decided Friday to suspend sine die the trial of the "Lussaty case," related to the embezzlement of large sums of money.
According to the judge in charge of the case, Andrade da Silva, the trial was postponed due to the lack of response to the appeal lodged by the defence lawyer, Picasso Andrade, to the indictment on 25 March this year.
He added that the lawyer says he does not know the reasons why the court has not yet ruled on the matter, despite having made a complaint in June about the delay in processing this appeal.
He explains that when an appeal is filed, the normal course of the proceedings should be suspended, regardless of the response to the appeal.
The law mentions that this suspension should be considered by a higher court, in this case, the Court of Appeal.
