Luanda – The Speaker of the Angolan National Assembly (parliament), Carolina Cerqueira, on Wednesday in Luanda Province congratulated her counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Vital Kamerhe, on his recent election to the post.
According to a press release ANGOP has had access to, she wrote “we are convinced that his high sense of mission and personal commitment to strengthening Congolese democracy will greatly contribute to facing the challenges of peace, stability and national inclusion as priority actions both politically and socially”, she emphasised.
Carolina Cerqueira added Vital Kamerhe's “enormous human potential and vast political experience accumulated during a rich political career”.
She emphasised that the election will help to dignify the role of MPs in line with the expectations of the people they represent and their responsibility to the nation.
“We hope that the commitment of Congolese parliamentarians, under his leadership, will contribute at the level of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Parliamentary Forum and the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) to the peace, security, stability and progress of our peoples and countries”, she said.
In her message, the leader of the National Assembly also expressed her willingness to continue to strengthen the bonds of friendship and parliamentary cooperation between the two institutions, within the framework of the friendly relations that exist between the two countries and brotherly peoples.
