Luanda - Angola and Malawi on Monday addressed issues related to bilateral cooperation in the fields of diplomatic policy, agriculture, geology and mining, culture and tourism.
The meeting, in which the Angolan side was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, also served to review the ties that unite Angola and Malawi, as well as to establish mechanisms for dynamic cooperation, with reciprocal advantages.
During the meeting, Malawi's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, who led her country's delegation, expressed the State's interest in cooperating with Angola in different areas.
He expressed that the Lobito Corridor is one of the priorities of the Malawi Government, given its size and strategic importance in Southern Africa.
The Lobito Corridor extends from the port of Lobito, bathed by the Atlantic Ocean, and crosses Angola from west to east, passing through the provinces of Benguela, Huambo, Bié and Moxíco.
It covers the mining production areas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Zambia.
With an estimated population of 19 million, Malawi is a natural resource powerhouse with rapidly expanding service sectors.
The meeting takes place at a time when the Angolan capital is preparing to host the 43rd Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), an organization of which Angola and Malawi are members. FMA/AL/DOJ
