Luanda - Angola and the United Arab Emirates intend to set up an inter-parliamentary commission in the near future to deepen and strengthen bilateral relations.
The intention was expressed Tuesday in Luanda by the ambassador of the United Arab Emirates accredited to Angola, Salem Al Khamis Obeid, during an audience granted by the vice-president of the 3rd committee of the Angola National Assembly, José Semedo, stressing that relations between the two states are strong.
According to the diplomat, the diplomatic representation has the role of accompanying all government departments.
The MP José Semedo on his turn said the meeting served to deepen inter-parliamentary relations “and give meaning to the excellent existing relationship.
According to the MP, the parties concluded that it was important to set up the commission, appointing MPs from both countries and deepening diplomatic relations.
“I believe that this group will be set up later this year, given the great urgency expressed by the ambassador and that we also have an interest in this,” the Angolan lawmaker said.
In the lawmaker’s opinion, although relations in the material sense are between the two states and governments, parliamentarians play a fundamental role in strengthening relations.
The lawmaker said a Commission will draw up a proposal and submit I for further assessment by the National Assembly for its opinion.
