Luanda – Venezuela ambassador to Angola, Marlon Pena Labrador, on Thursday in Luanda, said his country intends to import products from Angola to enhance trade cooperation and enable local entrepreneurs and Venezuelans to exchange experiences.
According to the Venezuelan diplomat, the two countries plan to set up a Bi-national Business Council for the trade cooperation to be enhanced.
Speaking on the sidelines of the Pre-Forum to Coordinate the Group of Potential Members for the Business Mission to the Republic of Venezuela in February 2024, the diplomat said the future council follows the memorandum of understanding signed by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hispanic American Angolan (CCIHA).
The diplomat said a team made up of Angolan businesspeople from the CCIHA will travel to Caracas, Venezuela, in the first half of 2024 to learn about potential business opportunities in the Latin nation.
The memo, the diplomat said, has the support of the Venezuelan Foreign Trade Bank (Bancoex), which deals with export issues and encourages new partnerships.
The Venezuelan diplomat added that there are Venezuelan entrepreneurs in Angola operating in the food import and production, agriculture, livestock and the extractive industry.
Reinaldo Trindade, head of the CCIHA, said the volume of business between Angola and Venezuela is not very significant, although he was coy on figures, underlining that these poor figures compelled it to enhance trade between the two nations.
The Chamber of Commerce Hispanic American Angolan operates since 2016 and includes businesspeople from 12 countries, including Uruguay, Venezuela, Chile, Mexico, Nicaragua and Cuba.ML/AC/AMP
