Luanda - The National Football Team beat hosts Mauritius, this Sunday, by 2-0, in the first leg of access to the final phase of the African Championship for Home-based Players (CHAN`2023), played at the National Complex of Côte d´Ôr.
The national team were winning at half-time, 1-0, with a goal from Tó Carneiro, in the 14th minute, following a direct free-kick, the second being an own goal scored in the 61st minute.
The second-leg match will take place on the 30th of this month, at 5 pm, at the 11 de Novembro stadium, in Luanda. In case of a second victory, Angola moves on to the next stage, where they’ll face the winner of the two-legged match between South Africa and the Comoros Islands.
Angola did not qualify for the 2020 edition, which was won by host Morocco.
The last participation of the national team took place in 2018, also in Morocco, where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals after losing to Nigeria (1-2). Before, in 2011, they were runners-up in a competition held in Sudan.
The national team, whose return home is set for Tuesday, includes goalkeepers Neblú, Alberto Mualucano and Cambila, defenders Danilson, Razão, Tô Carneiro, Hossi and Kinito; midfielders Herenilson, Aisson, Higino, Megue, Vitoriano Lucoquessa and Maia, and forwards Bito, Julinho, Pépua, Vanilson and Dilson.
