Luanda - The National Bank of Angola (BNA) promotes, from the 28th of this month to the 1st of November, a series of activities linked to literacy and financial inclusion, as part of the world savings week, ANGOP learned on Sunday in Luanda Province.
According to a note from the BNA (central bank), the initiative aims to raise awareness in society about the importance of developing savings habits as a catalyst for social and economic development.
October 31st marks World Savings Day.
The activity program, to be implemented nationally under the motto "Money saved, future assured!", includes financial education lectures aimed at general education students and financial inclusion campaigns for the general public.
The actions must involve the participation of multiple partners, namely the ministry of Education (MED), the ministry of Social Action, Family and Promotion of Women (MASFAMU), the ministry of Youth and Sports (MINJUD), banking financial institutions, companies providing payment services and the Interbank Services Company (EMIS).
"Savings week" is aimed at the population, with a particular focus on children, young people and women and aims to celebrate the global date, through training and awareness-raising actions.
The idea of creating a special date to promote an understanding of savings arose in October 1924, during the first International Economic Congress, held in Milan, Italy. ASS/VC/MRA/DOJ
