Luena - The governor of Moxico, Ernesto Muangala, recommended Friday in Luena, the reinforcement of awareness-raising actions and environmental education campaigns to protect the environment and mitigate the harmful effects on nature.
Speaking at the annual meeting of the activities carried out by the Attorney General's Office in the eastern region of the country, the governor said that coordinated action is needed between government bodies and legal operators to mitigate the harmful effects on the environment.
The governor added that these actions involve awareness-raising campaigns, environmental education and the effective application of the law against environmental crimes and others related to illegal logging and poaching for commercial and business purposes.
Ernesto Muangala saisd he recognises that there is a long way to go to raise awareness of the society on the need to abandon age-old practices of indiscriminate felling of trees, uncontrolled burning for poaching and others, which harm the environment.
The governor called for the need to think about future generations and the sustainable consumption of natural resources. LTY/ YD/TED/AMP
