Cabinda - The provincial secretary of Transport and Urban Mobility of the northern province of Cabinda, António Custodio, today instructed public transport operators to use the means solely for passenger transportation.
Speaking to the press, António Custodio accused the operators of violating the clauses of the contract signed with the government, by misusing the means that serve for the public interest.
“We ask for the common sense of transport companies to scrupulously comply with the contract, using the means to help reduce the crowds of people at bus stops, instead of being used for their own private purposes”, he requested.
The official said it was incomprehensible to see the absence of buses on public roads every day, when the province has a fleet of more than 60 means of public transport.
According to the provincial secretary of Transport and Urban Mobility, the clauses of the contract signed between the parties guide operators to explore routes in the south, north and east regions, starting in the city center and ending in the villages of Yema, Subantando and Malembo.
António Custodio advanced the possibility of sanctioning operators that continue to violate the contracts stated in order to discipline public transport activity in Cabinda.
