Lubango- At least 2,264 mortar bombs have been removed by the National Demining Center (CND) in the province of Huila from January to date, an increase of 1,808 explosives compared to the same period last year, local CND spokesman Fernando Katyavala told ANGOP.
According to Katyavala, a total of 5,695 metals, 73,334 rounds of ammunition, 1,000 anti-personnel mines and one anti-tank mine were also removed and collected.
Fernando Catiavala attributed the increase in materials removed by the CND to its efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of mines among a total of 4,068 people, including adults and children.
During this period, 65 kilometers of roads were also cleared.
According to the source, there have been no incidents involving mines or other weapons of war.
