Luanda - The Governor of Luanda province, Luís Manuel da Fonseca Nunes, on Monday in Luanda, reopened the Kinaxixi square, a moment that also marked the return of the statue of Queen Njinga Mbandi.
he ceremony was part of the celebrations of the 49th anniversary of Angola's Independence and was attended by several government figures, deputies, traditional and religious authorities.
During a speech, the governor of Luanda said that the space offers several valences, as well as being part of the city's imagination, whose rehabilitation and modernization represents an achievement of the province.
He also mentioned that in addition to an urban intervention, the act reaffirms the value of preserving and modernizing public spaces, which are part of the city's collective memory.
On the other hand, he said that the reopening of Largo do Kinaxixi will bring improvements in terms of car traffic and will provide traffic relief in some parts of the city.
In this context, Luís Manuel da Fonseca Nunes stated that it is urgent to adopt a new mentality and attitude in order to strengthen the spirit of collective responsibility, as well as the search for civic values and the preservation of the common good.
On the occasion, the young Francisco Bento said that the reopening of Largo do Kinaxixi is an asset for the area, as it will provide citizens with a new space for leisure and meditation.
In turn, the nationalist Amadeu Amorim said that the reopening of the square aims to honor Angolan culture, since it also gives rise to the return of the statue of Queen Njinga Mbandi.
The administrator of the Urban District of Ingombota, Paulo Furtado, said that the space adds an open-air amphitheater, public bathhouse, green spaces and a free internet service.
He said that the place constitutes a new postcard for the city of Luanda, so he called on citizens to protect the space that is now available to all citizens.
