Luanda - The António Agostinho Neto Foundation (FAAN) on Thursday, in Luanda Province, is to promote "an international poetry recitation session", as part of the commemorative programme of Angola’s 50th independence anniversary, to be marked next year.
According to the FAAN press release that Angop had access to on Wednesday, the event has the participation of the Association of Angolan Writers (UEA) and will take place at the Dr. António Agostinho Neto Memorial, in Luanda.
On November 11, 2025, Angola will complete 50 years of independence.
The programme includes 12 sessions of recital of poems by Agostinho Neto and will be held in several languages, namely German, Arabic, Castilian, Cokwé, Korean, Spanish, French, Hindi, English, Italian, Quicongo, Kimbundu, Mandarin, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, Turkish, Umbundu and Vietnamese.
The independence of Angola was proclaimed in 1975, by Dr António Agostinho Neto who, subsequently, became the first President of the Republic.
