Huambo - The commander of the National Police in the Province of Huambo, commissioner Manuel Gonçalves, on Monday guaranteed the professionalization of drivers for public services, causing a reduction in road accidents.
The commissioner was spoking at the end of the course aimed at public transport drivers, in an initiative by one of the driving schools, in partnership with the National Institute of Employment and Professional Training (INEFOP).
At the time, he promised to continue working on the massification of actions to overcome drivers, to remove Huambo province from the list of the five regions in the country that record the most accidents.
He said that in the last seven months, 74 road accidents were recorded, with 29 deaths and 89 injuries, resulting from excessive speed, lack of caution and ignorance of the Highway Code.
Commissioner Manuel Gonçalves highlighted that human beings are the main cause of road accidents, adding that responsible and professional driving is the right way to stop the high rates of road accidents if we want to reduce the mortality rate on the roads.
He urged companies with bus fleets to legalize its drivers, as well as to professionalize the appropriate public service so that they can contribute in the reduction of road accidents.
To this end, two driving schools, among the legal ones, are available to begin the professionalization of drivers in the public services category for safe and reliable circulation. LT/JSV/ALH/MRA/DOJ
