Luanda – The business exchanges between Angola and Italy within the scope of the cooperation relationship over the last four years, has reached over one billion Euros, the Italian ambassador to Angola, Cristiano Gallo, said Friday in Luanda.
Speaking at the end of an audience granted to him by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, the diplomat clarified that cooperation between the two countries has grown a lot, tripling in the last four years.
Cristiano Gallo, who is at the end of his term in office, recalled that both countries' cooperation is long-standing, adding that currently it is more solid and strong.
“We are planning them so that in the future we can expand them to other sectors”, expressed the diplomat, without specifying the areas.
According to Cristiano Gallo, in the scope of the Angolan economic diversification, Italy exports to Angola industrial machines and other products, while the country mainly exports oil to the European nation.
Italy is one of Angola's trading partners in Europe, with companies operating in sectors such as oil and gas, construction and infrastructure.
The Italian company Eni, a giant in the energy sector, is one of the main companies involved in oil exploration in Angola, thus contributing significantly to the Angolan economy.
Cooperation between the two nations has been consolidated over the years and covers areas such as economy, infrastructure, energy, culture and professional training.
Since the 1980s, Angola and Italy have had diplomatic and economic ties, with agreements that aim to promote the development of strategic sectors in Angola, where Italian companies play an important role.
Cooperation in the infrastructure sector has been central, with Italian companies contributing to the construction of roads, bridges and other projects.
These investments aim not only to improve internal connectivity, but also to facilitate trade and social and economic development.
