Cabinda - At least 3020 crimes of various types were recorded by the National Police in Cabinda province from January to December 2024, a reduction of 1,291 incidents compared to the same period in 2023.
The figures were announced by the provincial delegate of the Ministry of the Interior in Cabinda, Francisco Notícia, during the year-end ceremony, adding that of this number, at least 2,020 were solved by the local authorities.
According to the police spokesman, during the same period a total of 2,290 citizens, both nationals and foreigners, were arrested for crimes against physical integrity, theft, robbery, homicide and fraud, among others.
As part of the fight against drug trafficking, 111 heavy drug distribution centers were dismantled during this period, with the seizure of 2.81 kilos of crack cocaine.
The police spokesman added that at least 325 cases of smuggling of oil byproducts were recorded, resulting in the seizure of 485,000 liters of fuel and the arrest of 409 suspected smugglers, including nationals and foreigners.
With regard to road accidents, the province of Cabinda reported 597 road accidents, resulting in 80 deaths, 666 injuries and material damage valued at 160.7 million kwanzas. ING/JFC/JL/AMP
