Dundo - World Bank has spent USD 12 on construction of 150 kilometers of drinking water distribution network in eastern Lunda Norte province.
The 24-month project started on Monday in Chitato municipality, and will allow the connection of 15,000 homes in neighborhoods.
Benefiting from the projects neighbourhoods of Samacaca, Satxindongo, Kamaquenzo, Estufa, Taxa Barragem, Bairro Norte, Caxinde and city urban center.
According to the Public Water and Sanitation Company CEO, André Camilo, the project will boost water distribution in Chitato reinforcing the company billing levels.
The project allowed 60 direct and indirect jobs to the local youth, a number that might increase with the evolution of the work.
The Lunda Norte governor, Ernesto Muangala, appealed to the Contractor for strict compliance with the deadlines, taking into account the scarcity of water in the neighborhoods.
The province has two water distribution systems with 200 and 560 cubic meters respectively, as well as 5,000 cubic meters reservoir to serve more than 10,000 customers.
The Public Water and Sanitation Company in Lunda Norte has 15,000 clients, 3,856 of whom in the Mussungue satellite city.
There are available two systems for caption, treatment and distribution of water.
