Huambo - At least 284 illegal cryptocurrency mining processors were seized by security forces in the city of Huambo on Saturday, ANGOP has learnt.
The machines were hidden in the pantry of a family home on Street 50 in the city's Fátima neighborhood.
As a result, two Chinese nationals were sent to the Criminal Investigation Department (SIC), while the others involved are still at large.
In February, security forces dismantled three clandestine cryptocurrency mining centers, one in the "Yang Ran" workshop in Cidade Baixa, another in a block factory in the Cambiote neighborhood, and the third in a mill in the Chiva industrial area, next to the electric substation.
The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, recently expressed his disapproval of these actions and called for greater attention from the judicial authorities against cryptocurrency mining and other criminal practices in the country. ALH/AMP
