Luanda - Angola is taking part in the 112th annual session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, from 3 to 14 June, with the presence of delegates from workers, employers and governments from the ILO's 187 member states.
The Minister of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security (MAPTSS), Teresa Rodrigues Dias, arrived in Geneva on Sunday to lead the Angolan delegation to the event.
The delegation includes representatives of the Permanent Mission of Angola to the United Nations Office and other International Organisations, Margarida Izata, diplomats and technicians from the Angolan Foreign Ministry (MIREX), MAPTSS, representatives of employers and trade unions who sit on the National Commission for the International Labour Organisation (CN/ILO).
At the meeting, Teresa Dias will also deliver the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) declaration, an act that takes place every year during the International Labour Conference.
The minister will intervene during the plenary sessions of the event with a declaration which, among other things, will highlight the ratification of four international labour conventions, the protection of workers against the effects of climate change and biological risks, the care economy, fundamental principles and rights at work.
The Angolan delegation is also taking part in the vote to elect the members of the ILO Governing Body for the 2024/2027 term, whose vote will fall on candidates from the proposed African Group, taking into account the deliberations at the last meeting of SADC ministers of employment and labour and social partners, held in Huíla province last March.
