Benguela - Six people died and the same number were injured as a result of ten road accidents recorded over the weekend, in the province of Benguela, ANGOP learned today.
According to the spokesperson for the Provincial Command of the National Police, chief superintendent Ernesto Tchiwale, the accidents include three pedestrian collisions, two collisions between motorcycles and cars, and one collision with a fixed obstacle. The senior PN officer reported that four motorists involved in the aforementioned accidents were arrested.
He made it known that the municipalities of Lobito and Catumbela were the most targeted, recording five and two accidents, respectively.
Meanwhile, in the field of crime, the spokesperson reported that 16 cases had been registered, seven had been resolved and 48 citizens allegedly involved in the commission of the aforementioned crimes had been arrested.
He added that, in the period in question, crimes against property, with 13 cases, were the ones that stood out the most. Ernesto Tchiwale highlighted the qualified homicide that occurred in the 04 de Abril neighborhood (Benguela), in which a 50-year-old citizen was the victim, found dead inside his residence with signs of being beaten.
According to the spokesperson, information collected at the scene points to a crime motivated by matters of passion.
He also said that the police are investigating the case to identify, locate and arrest the suspects. In the same vein, he said that two cases of sexual abuse were registered, with the victims being a minor under seven years of age, resident in the municipality of Benguela, and a 35-year-old citizen residing in Cubal, with the suspect being a citizen who worked as a taxi .
During the period under analysis, three gas cylinders, 59 meters of electrical cables, 42 portions of drugs and a motorbike were seized.
Benguela and Lobito were the most targeted territories, registering seven and four crimes, respectively.
Ernesto Tchiwale took the opportunity to call on the population to refrain from crime and take justice into their own hands, as well as to get maximum caution on the roads. CRB/TED/DOJ
