Luanda - Angola Head of State João Lourenço on Thursday congratulated Donald Trump on his election as President of the United States of America.
‘On behalf of the Angolan Government and myself, I have the honor of congratulating you on your election as President of the United States of America,’ said the Angolan president in a message made public.
According to the Angolan statesman, Donald Trump was elected with results that clearly indicate that the American people have placed their trust in him and in the governance policies he will outline for the next four years, with a view to realizing their aspirations for prosperity and building a strong and confident America for the future.
‘I am fully convinced that the successful efforts made between our two countries and governments to build a solid foundation on which to build strengthened mutual trust will continue to be our common line of action, so that Angola and the United States of America reap substantial reciprocal benefits and advantages from our bilateral relationship,’ the Angolan president said.
João Lourenço said he believes that when president-elect takes office as the 47th President of the United States of America, Trump will put all his dynamism, experience and energy at his disposal in order to contribute to the quest for understanding and resolution of the serious problems facing humanity in terms of peace, food and energy security, which require concerted action between nations.
Republican candidate Donald Trump is making a historic return to the White House as the second president to win two non-consecutive terms.
With landslide victories in key battleground states of Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Wisconsin, Trump reached (and surpassed) the 270 electoral college votes needed to win the presidency. ART/DAN/AMP
