Luanda – President João Lourenço will attend, on Thursday, in Lisbon, the ceremonies commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, which put an end to the “New Dictatorship State” implemented by Salazar.
Also known as the April 25th Revolution, it refers to an event in the history of Portugal resulting from the Armed Forces Movement, which occurred on this day in 1974, which deposed the dictatorial regime in force since 1933.
According to the secretary of the President of the Republic for Communication and Press, Luis Fernando, the Head of State is invited to this festive event, in the same way as leaders of other countries were targets of the Salazar dictatorship in their historical process.
He recalled that in the case of Angola this process lasted almost 500 years.
For this mission abroad the President of the Republic leaves Luanda on Wednesday for the Portuguese capital, Lisbon.
