Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, assured that the Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport, inaugurated today, will have provisional private management in order to guarantee revenues for the State.
At a press conference, after the inauguration ceremony of the infrastructure, located in the Bom Jesus area, municipality of Icolo e Bengo, in Luanda, João Lourenço reaffirmed that the opening of a public tender to find the definitive private operator will take place within a few months.
Abbreviated as 'AIAAN', Dr. António Agostinho Neto Airport has an area of 1,324 hectares and have a capacity for 15 million passengers and a cargo volume of 130 thousand tons per year.
It has two double runways, the largest of which is four thousand meters by 20 meters wide, and is designed to receive, among others, aircraft of the B747 and A380 types, currently the largest commercial aircraft, in addition to contemplating the construction from scratch of an airport city that will cover a construction area of 75 square kilometers.
