Mbanza-Kongo – President João Lourenço's meeting with Zaire's provincial government concluded that the province has recorded notable advances in several areas of life in recent years.
Dedicated to assessing the region's socio-economic state, the event was the highlight of the Head of State's work day in this province.
In the field of education, according to the final communiqué of the meeting, 25 new school projects are underway, within the scope of PIIM, of which 12 have already been inaugurated and handed over to the populations in the municipalities of Soyo, Mbanza-Kongo and Noqui. The first high school was built in the municipality of Noqui, with a total of 39 new classrooms, benefiting 3,120 students.
Currently, the workforce in the education sector is 4,906 teachers, as a result of the entry of more than 500 new ones in the last two years.
Regarding the health sector, the New General Hospital of Mbanza-Kongo is under construction.
