Ndalatando - The Ministry of the Interior, in partnership with the World Organisation for Migration, is working to reinforce the quality of assistance and treatment to immigrants, especially in situations of calamity.
According to the technician of the National Training School of the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME), Joaquim Manuel Dias, the institution is conducting training courses for trainers on migration issues and on the legal framework of humanitarian management at borders.
The training has already taken place in the provinces of Luanda, Malanje and Cuanza Norte, where 35 staff members have benefited.
In Cuanza Norte province, the training ended Friday and ran for three days, covering issues of humanitarian assistance to migrants, taking into account the special conditions of some of them, particularly children, the elderly, the disabled and pregnant women.
The trained staff, he said, will act as trainers for the staff of other bodies of the Interior Provincial Delegation.
The seminar is being sponsored by the US government and is aimed at MININT staff, so that they are better equipped with techniques of approaching immigrants and assisting them when they are in a crisis situation.
