Huambo - As part of the celebration of the National Culture Day celebrated on Wednesday, the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, attended the musical-cultural show at the 'Manuel Rui Monteiro' Cultural Center, a ceremony that marked the highest point of the event.
The gala began with a dinner where in the presence of the Head of State, several individuals who over the years have contributed to the development of national culture in its other aspects were honored.
Subsequently, João Lourenço, who was flanked by members of the Executive and guests, witnessed the musical-cultural show, where several local artists entertained those present with their traditional songs, among others.
On the occasion, the President of the Republic received from the Minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, the certificate of classification of the 'Sona - drawings and geometric figures on sand in the representative list of the material cultural heritage of humanity', granted by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
At the time, the governor of the province of Huambo, Pereira Alfredo, in his speech, recognized the commitment of the Angolan statesman in favor of culture, humanity and multicultural diversity of peoples.
The governor also thanked the fact that the Head of State had agreed to the holding of the celebrations of the national culture day, in the province of Huambo, a fact that took place for the first time, outside the city of Luanda.
The cultural night was also marked by the presentation of the project 'more art - guitar symbioses', as well as the eclectic demonstration of cultural disciplines, from musical instruments to vocal performances by prestigious artists.
This year, the celebrations of the National Culture Day are framed in the context of the 50th anniversary of the National Independence that is celebrated on November 11th.
In the country, January 8 is dedicated to the appreciation, promotion and preservation of rich cultural diversity, instituted as a way to highlight the importance of culture in national identity and development.
