Luanda - The Angolan head of state, João Lourenço, analyzed on Monday in Luanda, the armed conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) with a delegation of Congolese religious, led by Monsignor Fulgence Muteba, President of the National Episcopal Conference of that country.

João Lourenço, also President of the African Union, which until recently mediated in the conflict between the DRC and Rwanda, exchanged views with the members of the Congolese religious delegation with the aim of finding solutions for peace, stability and security in the region.

At the end of the audience, the spokesman of the delegation, Reverend Eric Nsenga, told the press that the Angolan statesman, as President of the African Union, "is a very important player in the process of stabilization of the DRC.

He said that President João Lourenço will be able to make a good contribution and follow the initiatives of the churches in the DRC for an immediate end to the conflict, which has caused thousands of deaths and injuries and a serious humanitarian crisis.

“President João Lourenço is fundamental and we are grateful for the audience he has granted us. We will leave here with a well-studied lesson so that we can contribute in the best way possible to the resolution of this crisis," said the spokesman.

The political and military situation in the Democratic Republic of Congo has deteriorated rapidly due to the actions of the Rwandan-backed M23 rebel group.
