Huambo - The minister of Culture, Filipe Zau, guaranteed that the central act in the celebration of the National Culture Day, which will take place in Huambo Province, is to be marked by "fantastic moments" and also by the recognition of artists.
The government official, who was speaking to the press about the event schedule, which is marked on the 8th of January, said it is a day of celebration, fantastic and cultural, as well as for the recognition of artists and all men of culture in the province of Huambo.
Filipe Zau said that the central event of National Culture Day will be marked with the conference of the "Constantino Camõli" Provincial Archive and the unveiling of the classification board for the National Cultural Heritage of the Doutor António Agostinho Neto Square.
The program of the event, also includes a conference on "Culture, Identity and Angolaness", to address issues linked to cultural and creative industries, as well as cultural, material and immaterial heritage.
Filipe Zau added that the celebrations include the awarding of certificates of merit and trophies to cultural workers based in the province of Huambo and a musical and cultural show at the “Manuel Rui Monteiro” Cultural Center.
National Culture Day is a date of great historical importance, approved in November 1986 as a tribute to the first President of Angola due to his speech on national culture given on January 08, 1979, during the inauguration of the governing body of the Angolan Writers Association.
