Talatona - Luanda governor Manuel Homem on Wednesday called on the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) to act more efficiently and proactively to help mitigate and prevent corruption.
Speaking to the press at the end of the official handover of the new IGAE premises in Luanda, the governor stressed how it is for the State Inspectorate to have instruments to provide a public service with greater dignity and responsibility.
The governor said he hopes that, with the new facilities, IGAE would now be able to adjust society's behavior in terms of corruption and prevent them.
According to Manuel Homem, corrupt people need to be raised aware to change this behavior, pointing out that corruption often comes from society to public managers and vice versa.
The governor also urged those in charge of public office to be guided by transparent management, with the aim of restoring citizens' trust in institutions.
IGAE Inspector General, João Manuel Francisco,on his turn reiterated the government's commitment to train human capital, in terms of money laundering and auditing to better monitor the administration
João Manuel Francisco said the focus is to train staff so that they are up to the new challenges, where specializations are rare in auditing matters, a situation that is intended to be overcome.
The official explained that the institution has more than 400 civil servants all over the country and that, according to him, this number is due to financial restraint, since hiring staff requires caution and finances control.GIZ/MAG/AMP
