Luanda – A total of 48 Angolan students from different schools in Angola on Wednesday won six medals (3 silver and 3 bronze) at the 5th Copernicus Mathematical Olympiad held on July 14 to 18 in New York, United States of America.
According to a press release from the Consulate General of the Republic of Angola in New York, the “little mathematicians” were received by the Consul General, Augusta Mangueira, who expressed the joy and pride of the entire Angolan nation, and acknowledged the effort and dedication made by the teachers of the Angolan representatives at the Olympiad and the students, who competed in the two stages of the international competition, namely the preliminary round and the global round.
According to the Statement “the world needs young people who have the ability to solve complex problems and bring innovation into the lives of Angolans”, adding that it was important to remember that in life competition is not just about victories and medals, but about personal growth and lasting connections.
The delegation led by the director of the Complexo Escolar Privado Internacional (CEPI), Terence de Almeida, had the opportunity to interact with other members of delegations from countries such as the United States of America, Brazil, Portugal, among others, as well as to share knowledge, experiences and future prospects during the activities programmed by the Copernicus Olympiad.
The Copernicus Olympiad, an international competition open to students from 3rd to 12th grade, is a math competition for talented children and young people, whose challenge is to promote and develop their skills, inspired by logical and creative reasoning.LIN/PA/TED/AMP
