Lubango – A total of 151 million kwanzas (US$169.416) is the amount raised, on Saturday and Sunday, during the cattle auction included in the 20th edition of the fair of the Southern Angola Cattle Breeders Cooperative (CCGSA), in the city of Lubango, province of Huíla.
This is a commercial activity, taking place from 15 to 18 August with the support of the National Federation of Livestock Cooperatives of Angola (FENACOOPA) carried out under the motto: “Two decades contributing to the development of the sector”, included in the 122 years of the Nossa Senhora do Monte's Celebration.
The amount raised results in the sale of 550 animals grouped in 88 lots, with emphasis on cattle, as well as poultry, goats, sheep and horses, which completed the list of animals sold by more than one hundred exhibitors, including corporate and traditional breeders.
Compared to the same period in 2023, there was an increase of 137 million, as a result of the massive purchase of animals by livestock farmers from other parts of the country who came for the event, as revealed the spokesperson of the event, Vítor Panzo.
Vítor Panzo highlighted that there was a turnover of one billion kwanzas at the fair, 500 million more compared to last year, through sales of agricultural machinery, farm products, partnerships with banks, technological equipment, hospitality and tourism and other industrial products on display.
He highlighted the participation of exhibitors from Cunene, Namibe, Benguela, Cuanza-Sul, Luanda, Bié and Huíla, as well as Brazil, Portugal, Namibia, South Africa and France.
"Most of them brought products and techs equipment that support the agri-business chain, such as trucks for transporting livestock and preserving meat, vehicles for transporting field products, seeds, vaccines, animal feed, among others", he said. JT/MS/CF/DOJ
