Luanda - Domestic flights from Luanda to Cabinda, starting on the 10th of this month, at António Agostinho Neto International Airport (AIAAN), will carry 450 passengers per day, according to the Secretary of State for the Civil, Maritime and Port Aviation sectors, Rui Carreira.
Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to the works of the Bungo/Airport railway line and the Airport/Zango 5 road section, the minister reiterated that the transportation of these passengers will be done by four daily flights.
According to Rui Carreira, TAAG has all the conditions created to start with the operationalization of domestic flights from Luanda to Cabinda and vice versa, starting next Sunday (10) at the new airport.
For the 10th, four round-trip flights to Cabinda are planned, from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm, with a Dash 8,400 aircraft.
Among other conditions created, he highlighted the check-in and baggage handling service.
He added that passengers will be able to access the airport by buses, train and other means of transport within the airport perimeter, regardless of the time that users board or disembark.
He also stressed that TAAG presented a progressive flight plan, which includes, in addition to Cabinda, the eastern provinces of the country and the municipality of Soyo (Zaire).
Regarding international flights, the Secretary of State said that they will only begin to operate in March 2025, with the integration of all other airlines.
During the month of December, TAAG will carry out flights on the routes of the Eastern region (Dundo, Saurimo and Luena) and Soyo from the AIAAN and, progressively, in the first quarter of 2025, it will complete the transfer of the other domestic and international connections.
Currently, the airport receives cargo flights and has the capacity to transport 130,000 tons of goods per year.
Opened on November 10, 2023, Dr. António Agostinho Neto International Airport has a capacity for more than 15 million passengers per year.
The infrastructure has two double runways and is prepared to receive various types of aircraft, with emphasis on the Airbus A380, considered the largest commercial aircraft today.
It also has 31 sleeves, of which 19 for international services and 11 for domestic services, as well as conveyor belts for luggage storage, six of which are dedicated to international flights.
The check-in area has six islands for 94 counters, 62 for the international service and 32 for the domestic service.
Still within the framework of passenger flow, the Migration and Foreigner Service (SME), in the international area, has 36 counters, 10 of which are for electronic passports, as well as 14 counters to serve the domestic passenger segment.
In this regard, domestic and international passengers, accompanied by their luggage, will benefit from the internal transfer service, without having to leave the airport for this purpose. QCB/VC/DOJ
