Luanda - Economic journalists from various media outlets concluded, on Tuesday, in Luanda, a seminar on public procurement, with a view to a greater thematic approach in carrying out the activity.
For two days, professionals delved into matters linked to topics such as “widening the tax base”, “VAT regime, other taxes and fees”, “State Budget – information for greater understanding” and “public debt - management of arrears and financing”.
The need for the class to be well informed, given the “crucial” role it can play in monitoring Government actions, as well as the “power” to influence public debate and the perception of government policies were also highlighted at the event, promoted by Ministry of Finance, in partnership with the Association of Economic Journalists (AJECO).
When intervening at the closing, the Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, considered the class fundamental in the exercise of democracy, striving for moral and ethical values and principles.
According to the governor, the sector contributes to the construction of society, maintaining its commitment to honesty, truth and transparency.
“These things must be present in your daily life, but also the commitment to self-improvement, because it is always possible to go up another step in terms of knowledge on these matters”, she said.
On the occasion, the AJECO Chair, João Joaquim, highlighted the importance of training, noting that, since 2020, the association has promoted 39 training actions with the participation of 2,170 professionals from public and private media bodies.
He added that it is an effort that AJECO has been making, with some partners, to pass down knowledge to colleagues in other regions, which has had the support of some public and private institutions.
