Luanda – The business groups “Rotana” and “Deutsche Hospitality”, from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), expressed their intention to invest in the hotel sector in Angola, with the aim of boosting it and contributing to the national economy.
The managers of both firms, Nasser Al Nowais (President of the Rotana Group) and Siegfried Nierhaus (Vice President for the Middle East of Steigenberger Hotels AG), revealed this intention in separate meetings they had with the Angolan ambassador to the United Arab Emirates ( UAE), Albino Malungo.
A press release from the Angolan Embassy in Dubai states that, depending on investment intentions, Albino Malungo maintained preliminary contacts with the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment (MCTA) and entrepreneurs in the sector in Angola to materialize investment interests.
Rotana Hotel Management Corporation (Rotana) was founded in 1992 through a partnership between two visionary thinkers, Nasser Al Nowais and Selim El Zyr.
The company opened its first property, Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi, in 1993 and is today one of the leading hotel management firms in Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Turkey.
On the other hand, the Deutsche Hospitality Group (formerly Steigenberger Hotel Group) is the general brand of the German hotel company Steigenberger Hotels AG, a member of the Huazhu Group since 2020. The group was founded by Albert Steigenberger in 1930 and was managed as a family business by the descendants of the founder who died in 1958.
