Ondjiva - Water and Sanitation Company in southern Cunene province reports losses estimated at 19.5 million kwanzas.
The company blamed the loss on the damage of the 630 mm transport pipeline, from Xangongo to Ondjiva.
Speaking to ANGOP on Thursday, the administrator for the Financial Area of the institution, Veridiana José, mentioned 13 ruptures in the pipeline, as a result of the actions of the local population, which has disrupted the drinking water supply.
She said that each rupture the company spends 1.5 million Kwanza on acquisition of chemical products, maintenance of the system and other costs to restore the normal functioning of the services.
Damages are frequent in these hottest months of the year, due to water shortage, which leads the population to opt for negative practices, with very high costs as consequences, the administrator has said.
