Lisboa - Angolan market presents itself as one of Portugal’s top export destinations in several sectors, the Southern African country’s ambassador to this European nation, Carlos Alberto Fonseca, has said.
Goods exports from Portugal to Angola reached 951.6 million Euros in 2021, above the prior 870 million Euros recorded in 2020, which reverses the downward trend recorded since 2017.
The Angolan diplomat, who was speaking during the celebrations of the 47th anniversary of Angola's independence, said the exports and imports between Angola and Portugal grew by roughly 50 percent in 2022, compared to 2021.
The Angolan diplomat added that over 4,000 Portuguese companies are currently exporting goods and services to Angola, a market with around 33 million inhabitants.
The direct investments of Portuguese companies in non-oil areas in Angola, the ambassador said, occupy a prominent position that contributes to the diversification of the Angolan economy.
According to the diplomat, the entry into force, in December 2021, of the Agreement on the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments between the two countries has enhanced the economic, financial and commercial relations.
