Luanda - Angola took over on Wednesday the rotating presidency of the Forum for Food Safety Inspections and Economic Activities (FISAAE) of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP), for the next two years.
With the election of the inspector of the National Authority for Economic Inspection and Food Safety (ANIESA), João Quiúma, made at the 8th CPLP Forum, which takes place in Luanda Province, Angola replaces Mozambique in the leadership of FISAAE.
For the position of vice-president, the member countries nominated the inspector general of the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) of Portugal, Luís Lourenço.
By the way, President-elect João Quiúma highlighted the prevention of food fraud as a priority in his mandate, given the emergence of electronic commerce.
“We will continue with the perspectives outlined in 2020, despite the challenge of Covid-19, which made it impossible to carry out some activities, such as the concerted participation in inspections between the organization's member countries”, he highlighted.
He highlighted the technical training of national staff and materials related to global good practices.
According to the chairman of FISAAE, Angola's election will serve to chart new paths, especially in terms of cooperation and information sharing among countries.
The vice-president, Luís Lourenço, highlighted the importance of the organization for sharing information and concerted actions, the level of inspections and food safety and economic activity.
"It is an added value that we are all in agreement on various issues, with emphasis on the issues of inspections at the level of products that are imported and exported, because each product has its own specificity, the way it is operated in the countries of origin or in the countries destination", he stressed.
The 8th CPLP Forum, promoted by ANIESA, takes place over three days and will analyze, among other topics, such as "The role of sectoral associations in interaction with supervisory authorities" and "Good practices for preventing food fraud", in addition to hosting of seminars on food security.
The ninth meeting of FISAAE is scheduled to be held in 2026, in Portugal.
