Luanda - Petro de Luanda won this Saturday, in the country's capital, their 17th national senior men's basketball title, in the first division championship, by beating Interclube 81-67.

In a game played at the Cidadela pavilion, the “tricolores” (Petro's nick name) won 3-1, in the best of five play-offs, thus retaining the title.

The champions were always ahead on the scoreboard with 17 -7, 37 - 24 and 54 -41.

In the first match of this final phase, Petro won, by 92-80, lost in the second, by 97 -92, triumphed again, by 80 -63 and once again today, by 81-67.

In the fourth of five games, with Angolan Apolinário Paquete's team looking for a new triumph and forcing the final, the challenge was marked by the failure of both electronic scoreboards, and the organization decided to use two alternatives, in the central area of the court.

Interclube, who played as visitors, showed signs of uneasiness in the opening quarter, and came out ten points behind (7-17).

With two consecutive tree point shots, Petro's team triumphed again in the second quarter, 37-24.

As previous quarters, Petro won again in the third and fourth quarter by 54-41 and 81-67, respectively.
