Malanje- The Minister of Youth and Sports Palmira Barbosa defended Saturday the need to expand sports activities in northern Malanje province, with the aim to increase federated sports locally.
According to the minister, the need arises from the fact that many sports practiced in the province are not in line with the government's intentions to develop federated sport, whose aim is to provide athletes in quantity and quality to play in the national teams.
The minister made the statement at the end of the match between the national under-20 football team and Misto de Malanje that was part of the celebrations of the National Hero Day marked on September 17, won 4-2 by the visitors.
"There is every need for Malanje province to have more sports associations controlled by the Angolan federations, in order to increase options for the national teams," the minister said.
The minister considered the game a starting point for new challenges for sport in Malanje, adding that she was pleased with the level of competitiveness. RM/NC/PBC/AMP
