Talatona - The 4th edition of the 2025 International Peace Half Marathon, which is scheduled for April 4th, in Luanda, expects the participation of 2,500 national and foreign athletes, in the year in which the country celebrates 50 years of National Independence.
The event will feature the participation of Olympic and Paralympic athletes, with prizes ranging from 50,000 to 5 million Kwanzas.
In a recent press conference, the event promoter, Carlos Rosa, informed that the registration deadline is March 15th.
In the last edition, athletes from Somalia, Abdullahi Mahamed, and Bahrain, Violah Jepchumba Motosio, broke a new record for the event, held at a distance of 21 km.
The distance runner from Somalia won the race with a time of 1:02:58, undoing the race's best record of 1:03:17, won by Kenyan Kibet Chebuyo, in 2022.
In the race, Abdullahi Mohamed beat the Ethiopian Semachw Worku, second with a time of 1:03:08, and the Tanzanian Mao Ako, third with 1:03:44.
However, in the last edition, the Interclube long distance runner Daniel Emídio, who clocked 1:05:13, was the best Angolan, while runner Lúcia Capingala (individual) was the best Angolan in the women's category.
