Luanda- Angola Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) Federation, the United States of America and Brazil compete for the holding of the 2026 Mixed Martial Arts World Championship, the federation's secretary general, José Gomes told ANGOP Friday.
Gomes highlighted the fact that Angola is the only African country running for the holding of the event.
He added that the chairperson of the Angolan MMA federation, Armando Diogo, is currently in Johannesburg (South Africa), where the Extraordinary Assembly of the African Confederation of the sport takes place.
In Johannesburg, according to the source, Angola's candidacy strategy will be outlined, among other things, to be presented at the International Extraordinary Assembly in Belgrade (Serbia), where the country that will organize the event will be decided.
Angola has already taken part in four World Cups, two in the cadet class and two in the junior and senior classes. Its last appearance was last November in Albania.
