Luanda - Subjects related to Angolan culture are being prepared to be taught in the near future in the Maria Eugénia Neto Subject at the University of International Studies in Rome, Italy.
The information was given to the press on Thursday, in the Province of Luanda, by the rector of the University of International Studies, Mariagrazia Russo, after a meeting with the vice-president of the MPLA, Luísa Damião, during which they reviewed aspects related to the study plans of the aforementioned higher education institution.
Ms Mariagrazia Russo also highlighted the possibility of holding seminars, colloquiums or congresses on Angolan culture at the university every year, considering it to be a way of opening doors to students from other parts of the world who want to come to this institution in Italy to study Angolan culture.
According to her, who has been studying Angolan culture for around 30 years, Angola is an extremely important point of reference in cultural, political and economic terms, among others.
The Maria Eugénia Neto Subject was founded on October 5, the date on which the University of International Studies in Rome awarded the title of Dr. Honoris Causa to the widow of the first President of Angola, António Agostinho Neto, who was honored with the placement of a bust of himself in one of the gardens of the city of Rome.
However, the secretary-general of OMA (the MPLA party women's organization), Joana Tomás, who attended the meeting, expressed her desire to see cooperation with the Italian university extended with the availability of scholarships, with the aim of empowering women through education.
The leader of OMA also suggested the possibility of sending staff from the organization to Italy to absorb experiences in protecting victims of domestic violence.
The University of International Studies in Rome is dedicated to teaching and research in the fields of education, international relations, linguistics, political science, translation and interpretation.
