Luanda - Angolan Head of State João Lourenço returned to Luanda on Sunday after a two-day official visit to Oslo, Norway, started on 17 November.
At Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, João Lourenço, accompanied by the first lady Ana Dias Lourenço, was received by the Vice President Esperança da Costa, Government members and Senior officials of the Presidential Office.
The visit, the first of the kind paid to the European country by an Angolan statesman, aimed to strengthening bilateral cooperation.
In addition to the Angola-Norway Business Forum, João Lourenço met with King Harald V, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stor, and the Speaker of the Parliament Masud Gharhakhani.
The President Lourenço discussed with his interlocutors issues related to closer bilateral cooperation and current international affairs.
Still in that country, the Angolan Statesman visited economic enterprises, with emphasis on the oil company Equinor (former Statoil) and Aker Solutions.
Equinor has the biggest volume of business with Angola. The company is responsible for 10 percent of oil production in Angola.
Aker Solutions is a company focused on technological solutions for the mineral resources, oil and gas industry, which operates in the Angolan market.
With the visit, cooperation between Angola and Norway was boosted up , mainly in the political-diplomatic and economic-commercial areas.
On the political level, the two countries are linked by 45 years of diplomatic relations that date back to the beginning of the Independence achieved on 11 November 1975 in Angola.
After the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1977, Norway has been physically represented in Luanda for 25 years, with an embassy that also responds to Norwegian interests in São Tome and Principe.
