Luanda - The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, congratulated Angolan women on Sunday, highlighting their 'heroic contribution', permanent and irreplaceable to the cause of peace, social justice and progress of the country.
In a message on the occasion of Angolan Women's Day, which is celebrated today, the statesman writes that in the year in which the Fiftieth Anniversary of National Independence is celebrated, with deserved jubilation, it is worth remembering the determined action of Angolan Women from the times of the National Liberation Struggle to the present times.
He emphasizes that in this period everyone proudly witnessed his growing role in all spheres of Angolan society.
By their own merit and right, writes the President, women today occupy the most varied positions in the public sphere and beyond, working tirelessly for the collective well-being.
'May the 2nd of March be, once again, a soothing for the daily struggle carried out by all Angolan women, from Cabinda to Cunene, as pillars in the education of children, as managers of the balance and harmony of homes, as resilient actors in the production of especially food in the countryside, in short, as an unavoidable force in the greater effort for resolution', concludes President João Lourenço.
Angolan Women's Day is celebrated on March 2, in recognition of her role in the resistance struggle of the Angolan people against colonial occupation.
The event also aims to honor the women who fought for the country's Independence and who have, to this day, their names written in the annals of Angola's history, such as: Deolinda Rodrigues, Irene Cohen, Engrácia dos Santos, Lucrécia Paim, among others. ART/DOJ
