Luanda - Angola's ambassador to Namibia, Juvelina Imperial, on Saturday in Windhoek reiterated the commitment of the countries accredited to that country to continue strengthening relations with the Namibian State and working together at regional and international levels to ensure a safer, more inclusive and sustainable world.

Speaking as the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps at the customary New Year's address by the President of the Republic of Namibia, Juvelina Imperial reaffirmed the willingness of diplomats accredited to that country to work together to address common global challenges.

According to a statement from the Angolan diplomatic mission in Namibia received by ANGOP on Saturday, the diplomat congratulated Namibia for successfully co-chairing the Summit of the Future at the United Nations last year, where an innovative pact for the future was adopted to transform global governance.

The diplomat acknowledged that the conclusions of the Summit demonstrated the world's commitment to the UN, the international system and international law, and provided clear guidance on issues of peace and security, sustainable development, climate and development finance, digital cooperation, youth and future generations, rights and gender.

On the occasion, the President of Namibia, Nangolo Mbumba, thanked the diplomats for their support in 2024 following the death of President Hage Geingob and during the presidential and parliamentary elections in November last year, which culminated in the election of Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as Namibia's first female president.

The President emphasized that 2024 was a year of many challenges, such as the mourning of Namibians and the transfer of power, after thanking the countries accredited to Namibia for their positive response in combating the drought that forced him to declare a state of emergency in May last year in order to protect the lives and livelihoods of the Namibian people.
