Luanda - The President of the ruling MPLA party João Lourenço Tuesday recommended his party’s parliamentary group to exercise discipline, patriotism and a good relationship with other political parties in the National Assembly.
The information was released to the press by the leader of MPLA Parliamentary bench, Virgílio de Fontes Pereira.
Virgílio de Fontes Pereira was speaking at the end of the first meeting of the MPs elected by the list of the winning party (MPLA) in the elections of 24 August.
The MPLA elected 124 of the 220 deputies that make up the National Assembly, followed by UNITA with 90 seats, while the FNLA, PHA and PRS garnered two seats each.
As for the current legislature, Virgílio de Fontes Pereira said to expect from MPLA group a strategic action in dealing with subjects in favour of the interests of the country and the party itself.
He also said that the meeting had a second moment, chaired by the party's vice-president, Luísa Damião, which served to convey, particularly to the newcomers, the rules of organisation and functioning of the group.
The politician noted that the meeting addressed issues such as the conclusion of parliamentary bodies, including the Board of National Assembly, to which UNITA is expected to take over its seats.
Virgílio de Fontes Pereira said that the creation and composition of specialised committees, the group of women parliamentarians, the board of directors and the permanent committee were also addressed.
