Luanda - ENI, the Italian multinational hydrocarbon producer, plans to explore around 150,000 hectares of land in the near future, for vegetable oil production, ENI's CEO Cláudio Descalzi said at the end of an audience with the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço.
The meeting served to discuss issues related to the implementation of various social projects in the country, Cláudio Descalzi said at the end of the meeting, adding that the implementation of this agricultural project is expected to create more than 100,000 jobs for Angolan citizens.
“We talked about the major projects that ENI is developing in the agricultural sector in Angola's major agricultural centers, as well as the studies carried out by Azur with regard to the production of biofuels and biodiesel,” Descalzi said.
The ENI representative said the projects are important, since they will help to create and diversify more jobs in a specific way, underlining that the meeting also served to discuss issues relating to projects in the oil, gas and social sectors.
He said that ENI, through the Azule Energy joint venture, intends to start producing gas by December 2025, and at the same time increase its oil production capacity.
ENI has been present in Angola since 1980, it has a net production of approximately 250,000 barrels of oil per day and holds stakes in 16 projects, including exploration blocks and the Angola LNG project, which aims to increase the production of liquefied natural gas in the country.
In addition to the hydrocarbons sector, ENI is also involved in renewable energy projects in Angola, such as the Caraculo photovoltaic plant, which helps to reduce diesel consumption in order to generate electricity and supports the diversification of the Angolan energy matrix.
The company participates in social and local development initiatives, including education, community health and economic diversification projects. AFL/VIC/AMP
