Huambo - Angolan head of State João Lourenço inaugurated Friday Bailundo housing project, 75 kilometers from the capital of the central Huambo province, as part of his 24-hour visit to the region.
The urban housing project, with just over 3000 residences integrating four-storey, two-storey and one-storey buildings, is located in an area of approximately 100 square metres.
It includes social facilities such as kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, a polytechnic institute, a health centre, a sports complex and a police station.
The satellite city is now designated Halavala city, in allusion to the hill with the same name in the locality and the former designation of the capital of the Kingdom of Bailundo.
The housing project is the third in the province of Huambo, after Lossambo, opened in 2017, with 2009 houses, occupied by more than 14,000 people, and Fernando Faustino Muteka, available since 2020, in the municipality of Caála, with 4001 residences,

The minister of Public Works and Territorial Planning, Manuel Tavares de Almeida, assured that the Executive is concluding the projects it started to meet the dream of owning a home.
He explained that the project resumed in 2017 after the readjustment of contracts, with a view to guaranteeing good housing conditions for the population.
Manuel Tavares de Almeida explained that the occupation of residences will be made by quotas for the civil service, youth, public and private companies, veterans of the country, the disabled, among other groups specified in the Presidential Decree.
