Huambo - The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, recently identified Angolan writer Nituecheni Africano as a promising young man in African literature, according to a press release to which ANGOP had access on Monday.
It indicates that the young Angolan writer sold more than 8,000 copies of the book “O Recluso– o princípio e o fim de uma injustiça”, (The Prisoner - the principle and end of an injustice), in ten countries, with emphasis on Germany, Brazil, the United States of America, France, Holland, Italy and Portugal.
The Angolan writer Nituecheni Africano, literary pseudonym of Eugénio Afonso Gaspar, author of the romance and short story genre since he was 13 years old, gained greater sympathy in the South region of America, with a literary approach that won over thousands of readers.
It adds that Nituecheni Africano became interested in literature by narrating stories from the old Nelito Soares neighborhood (urban district of Rangel), in the city of Luanda, capital of Angola.
“O Vencedor de Pães Asmos" (The Winner of Unleavened Bread), "Prisioneiro do Amor" (Prisoner of Love), “O Recluso– o princípio e o fim de uma injustiça”, (The Prisoner - the principle and end of an injustice), "Bíblia Sagrada" (Holy Bible), "O Regresso dos Anjos" (The Return of the Angels), "Huambo Minha Terra" (Huambo Minha Terra), and "Comilão, uma Criança de seis anos Morre Vítima de Abuso Sexual” (Big Eater, Six-Year-Old Child Dies Victim of Sexual Abuse), are some of his books.
He is a winner of international and national awards such as "Word-Book 2022, in Latin America, Literatura Rio de Janeiro (2023), Florbela de Spanca Portugal (2023), Word-Book de São Paulo (2023), Fox USA (2024) and Dipanda in Angola (2023).
The author was born in the southern province of Huambo, on September 12, 1990, he graduated in Information Technologies from the Technical University of Angola (UTANGA) and Business Management from the Lusófona University (Portugal).
It is worth remembering that the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from the 11th to the 18th of the month, held the International Biennial in virtual format with the participation of 100 exhibitors and 258 authors from 80 countries.
The event paid homage to António Agostinho Neto (first President of Angola) and the centenary of António Jacinto do Amaral Martins, former Minister of Culture in Angola between 1975 and 1978.
